Karen Conrad Dorsett's Obituary
Karen Conrad Dorsett, 73, passed away December 4, 2018 at Grace Healthcare in Cordova, Tennessee; following an injury in February of this year. She was born on July 22, 1945 in Washington D. C. to Arville Ogburn Conrad and Eva Hutchins Conrad. She graduated from Reynolds High School in Winston- Salem, NC, in 1963. She is survived by a brother, Robert Neil Conrad of Butner, NC; her husband of 54 years, Preston H Dorsett of Bartlett, TN; a son, Neil Alan Dorsett of Austin, TX; a daughter Emily Karen McDonald of Cordova, TN, and grandchildren Connor Lee McDonald, Brody Ryan McDonald, and Eva McDonald. A brother Gene Alan Conrad of Winston-Salem, NC, preceded her in death.Karen lived a life of overflowing love, giving her time and efforts to people and things that she was passionate about. Family was paramount to her, and she poured her heart into caring for them over the course of her life. As an art lover, she was very active at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. She was on the Board of Directors, served as Chairperson of the Membership Committee, and enjoyed attending events and functions there. Always the gracious hostess and known for her culinary skills, she thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her contribution to many lives will be remembered and celebrated.The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, Saturday December 8, followed by a memorial service all at Germantown Baptist Church. She was a kind and generous person and routinely helped people in need. She and Preston supported the Brinkley Heights Ministries, and they request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her memory to this ministry.
