Junior Hyram Loftin's Obituary
Junior Hyram Loftin, of Memphis, TN went to be with our Lord on January 3, 2023.
The oldest of five children, he was born February 5, 1924 in Beebe, AR to Gaines Loftin and Pauline McGuire Loftin.
After graduating high school in McRae AR, Hyram worked for Ford Motors in Detroit, MI prior to enlisting in the Navy. During World War II he was a crew member on the USS Braine, a destroyer ship attacked by kamikaze pilots while at sea.
Hyram went to Washington after the war where he was a Page for the House of Representatives. While in Washington he married his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna Roberta Laferney. Upon graduating from Boston University Washington, he moved his family to Memphis, TN to work for Gordons Transport Trucking in the accounting department where he stayed until retirement.
Hyram was a long time active member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church. As an avid golfer, one of his greatest loves was time on the golf course with family and friends.
He was a faithful and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His wife, parents, and three siblings preceded him in death.
He is survived by sister, Willa Dean Hill, sons John Michael Loftin (Cheryl), Robert Alan Loftin (Patti), and daughter Elaine Loftin Jackson (John), 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate Hyram’s life will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. Visitation begins at 10AM followed by the service at 11AM.
