June S. Winston's Obituary
June Sennett Winston, 83, of Memphis passed away to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 12, 2013. She has now joined in heaven with her husband, Charles William Winston. “For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, for whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 She leaves her daughter, Barbara Winston Canerdy and son-in-law Jim Canerdy; five grandchildren, George Bernard “Bert” Suggs, Helen Marie and Justin Williams, Nigel Winston Suggs, Heather Leia Suggs and Fiancé Lanney Dillenger, and Jaclyn Alaina Canerdy; four great-grandchildren, Aleia Marie Suggs, Charles Cody Suggs, Presley Reid and Cayson Sage Williams. Also she leaves her step-children and step-grandchildren, James Canerdy, Julie Canerdy, and Jason Canerdy and their precious children. June was preceded in death on earth, but life with Christ by her beloved father, Bernard Alfonso Sennett and mother, Neomie A. Arnoult Sennett and seven of her beloved siblings. Her surviving siblings are her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sammons and Naomi S. Ashburn both of Memphis. June is also survived by many nieces and nephew and family that she loved with all her heart. June grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. She graduated and attended Sienna College and also a technical college in California. She married Charles while he was in service in the Army and lived in Sacramento, California until there return to Memphis. June did accounting when she was young and later devoted her time to her family; after the birth of her daughter, Barbara. Later, June graduated from LaSalle Institute with a degree in interior design. She worked for Howard Graham Sleep Shop and Goldsmith in sales and design for several years. Then she found the job she loved the most at Mills Morris Furniture a.k.a. Office USA. She worked for them 21 years as one of their most successful and top sales representatives and designers. She did the lay outs for their showroom floors to the point she could do them in her sleep and next day work the employees hard to get it all set up. The men lovingly called her “Grandma” due to her wisdom and guidance and love at work. Her best love in life was first of all God and then being with her immediate family and having good – times laughing and telling old stories. June’s interests were sewing, refinishing furniture, reading about design and the fashion industry, cooking, and traveling. She will be greatly missed and has placed a lasting impression on anyone that has ever met her and experienced her wonderful and positive view on life and how to overcome all obstacles with God at your side. The family invites you to celebrate her Life and visit them on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 706 S. Highland Avenue. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery and a Reception for family and friends will be held afterwards at the Joachim Center behind the church.
