June Swift Stuart Vance's Obituary
June Swift Stuart Vance, age 94, died peacefully in her sleep at home on January 20, 2021. She was born in Memphis, TN, to Oral and Rose Swift, graduated from Messick High School, and later in life, from Memphis State University. She retired as a teacher in the Memphis School System.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, John David “Dave” Vance, by her first husband Thomas Edwin “Tommy” Stuart, a sister, Sherry Wright, an aunt, Marie Short, her sister-in-law, Dorothy Freeman and by other aunts and uncles and cousins.
She leaves her two daughters, Karen Lee Stuart (Richard Wheeler), and Nancy Gail Stuart, four grandchildren, Matthew Lee Stuart (Margo), Marshall Thomas Hall, Jessie Lucas “Luke” Pearson, and Laura Koon Doyle (Brian). She leaves her great-grandson James David Hall, her “inherited’ children, David Vance, Olivia Vance, Walter “Walt” Vance (Angie), and Dabney Vance; her brother, Ed Swift (Robin), her brother-in-law, John Wright, her sister-in-law Ann Pyron (Maurice), two “inherited” grandchildren, Ezra Wheeler, and Eli Wheeler (Michelle); nephews Chuck Freeman (Linda), Dan Swift (Debi), John “Johnny” Wright, Jr., (Elaine), David “Hank” Wright (Paige), David Pyron (Linda) nieces, Elizabeth Freeman (Bill), Sarah Brede (Larry), and Suzanne Pyron, several great nieces and nephews, and long time neighbors who were like family to her. Her wonderful, mixed-up family and her church family were the focus and blessings of her life.
The visitation will be held form 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 27th at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
