June S. Hall's Obituary
June Scheibel Hall died on December 18, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. Born in Chicago on March 5, 1923 to Harriet Nyren Scheibel and John Joseph Scheibel, Mrs. Hall was married to Horace G. Hall, Jr. on November 3, 1945 and immediately moved to Memphis, Mr. Hall’s home town. She is predeceased by her husband who died in 1989, her parents, her sister, Patricia and her son-in-law, John O. Burgess, Jr. She is survived by her five children, Barbara Olson (David), Germantown, TN, Margaret Lee (George), Mandeville, LA, John H. Hall (Janice), New York City, NY, Elizabeth Burgess, Memphis, TN and Michael S. Hall (Anne), Collierville, TN and four grandchildren, Emily Olson, San Francisco, CA, Andrea Olson, Burlington, VT, Caroline Hall and John Turner Hall, Collierville TN, and one sister, Sister Mary Scheibel, OP, Adrian, MI. Mrs. Hall was a graduate of Rosary College, now Dominican University, River Forest, Il. She attended Dominican schools from 1st grade through college. She was an active member of St. Anne Parish, Memphis, serving on the school board, as an officer in the Mothers’ Club and Altar Society, and helped chair many fundraisers for the school. She set up and staffed as a volunteer the school library for many years. June was an excellent seamstress, an expert in needlepoint and an artist. She was a member of the Sommers’ Playmates Bowling league for a number of years with a 135 average as recently as her 90th birthday. She remained loyal to Chicago, cheering on the Bears, the Cubs and the Bulls while supporting the University of Memphis Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels and the Christian Brothers High School Purple Wave. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. today, December 20 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in Mrs. Hall’s name may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, Methodist Hospice or to the charity of your choosing. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
