June Montgomery Parker's Obituary
June Montgomery Parker, 94, entered heaven peacefully on March 3, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a resident of Memphis, Tennessee her adult life until her last year when she joined family in Oklahoma City. June was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, June 3, 1923, to Spencer and Kathryn Montgomery. She was raised in Suffield, Connecticut, and attended Suffield Academy and Bradford Junior College, Bradford, Massachusetts. Upon graduation June became a flight attendant for American Airlines and was based in Memphis. June married her late husband, V. Lloyd Parker of Memphis, on March 1, 1947. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage and raised five children; Spencer Lloyd Parker, Stuttgart, Arkansas, deceased, Ginger Parker Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK, Amy Parker Potter, Glastonbury, CT, Jane Parker Arrington, Mobile Alabama, and Janet Parker Parker, Mobile, Alabama. Second Presbyterian Church was June’s church home for over 60 years where she was a faithful member of the Chapel Sunday School Class and Martha Mary Circle. June’s love for Jesus and the word of God was also expressed as a Bible Study Fellowship Group Leader as well as a participant in Community Bible Study. She enjoyed her involvement with the Memphis Kiwi organization and was a past member of Les Passee and L’Allegro Circle of King’s Daughters. June was known for her love of people, warm smile and her gift of hospitality. Active in her garden club she had a gift for growing beautiful flowers and taking arrangements to friends. She was especially known for being an avid sportswoman. June played tennis then golf, swimming and riding her beloved bicycle until her 92nd year. June was preceded in death by her husband; V. Lloyd Parker, son; Spencer Lloyd Parker, brothers; Spencer Montgomery, Street Montgomery, and sister; Ruth Tryon. She also leaves behind her beloved sons-in-law; William Johnson, Richard Potter, Thomas Arrington, and Ricky Parker, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services for June will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Second Presbyterian Church Sanctuary at 11:00 AM with family visitation preceding the service at 10:00 AM. A private family burial will follow the service.
