June Faulkner's Obituary
Billie June Faulkner, 88, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, September 27, 2021. She was born to Napoleon Lloyd Case and Willie Augusta Adams Case on September 16, 1933 in Blandville, KY. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Enoch Preston Faulkner, who passed away on June 26, 2005. Preston and June celebrated 51 beautiful years together.
June was valedictorian at Bardwell High School in Bardwell, KY, and was a long-time member of Forest Hill Church of Christ in Memphis, TN. She was a homemaker, dedicated and loving wife, and a wonderful mother to her three children.
June had many interests. She was an officer in the PTA at Colonial Elementary and Junior High, as well as Overton High School. She was the official scorekeeper for her sons’ baseball games as they were growing up. As an avid sports fan, she loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was a season ticketholder for the Memphis Tigers basketball team.
June loved to watch TV game shows, and one of her favorites was Wheel of Fortune. She tried out for the show, and was chosen to be a contestant, ultimately getting to the Final Round as the show’s big winner.
Serving her church family and community was indeed a passion. For example, before the age of computers, on her Smith-Corona typewriter, she typed literally hundreds of thesis and term papers for students at the Memphis School of Preaching and Harding Graduate School of Religion. For the last 15 years, every Thursday found her as a steady and reliable volunteer at BMH-Women’s Hospital.
She leaves behind a daughter, Benita Faulkner Taylor (Rick), two sons, Philip L. Faulkner (Debbie), and Thomas A. Faulkner; five grandchildren, Brittany Moore (David), Jarod Taylor (Kelci), Carolyn Poole (Adam), Christopher Faulkner, and Patrick Faulkner. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren.
