Julann Brennecke Rentrop's Obituary
Julann B. Rentrop (Judy) died peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
While Judy was small in stature, she was a mighty force to be reckoned with. Raised in Cape Girardeau, MO, she moved with her young family to Memphis TN in 1965, where she established new roots forming a strong family foundation. Impressive for the time, Judy was a working mother. Starting as an assistant to Paul Piper Sr. at Piper Industries, she would ultimately run his foundation, Christ Is Our Savior.
She found happiness when marrying Dr. Walter A. Rentrop in 1985. With him, she saw her family grow with the addition of stepchildren and grandchildren, whom she cared for wholeheartedly. She enjoyed many pastimes from traveling abroad with friends and family to cheering on the Memphis Grizzlies.
What her family will remember most is her straightforward honesty and her reassuring voice of reason. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three children, Kit Rentrop (Rex), Ann Leatherman, and John Harrison. She also leaves behind two stepchildren, Patsy Rush and Rex Rentrop, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Jane Womack and Emily Firebaugh.
The family will celebrate her life privately this Tuesday, October 11, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
