Judy Kay Parks' Obituary
Judy Kay Parks, 70, passed away June 30th, 2024, after having waged a brave battle against a challenging cancer diagnosis.
Judy was born April 13, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio to Paul E. Strait and Margie May Strait.
She grew up in Memphis and was a 1972 graduate of Oakhaven High School. From there, she attended St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School and obtained her Diploma in Nursing in 1975. For the next 30 years, she worked in a variety of healthcare settings as a Registered Nurse and was often recognized for her efficiency and strong skills. Beyond work, Judy was a lover of the sun, the beach, good music and Stephen King books.
Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory two children, Jennifer (Ira) Scott of Orono, Maine and Brian (Tatiana) Parks of Denver, Colorado. She also leaves the three brightest joys in her life - her grandchildren, Ira Scott III (“Trip”) and Miles and Cameron Parks. The last five years, she shone as a grandmother and was loved greatly by all three grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She also leaves her brother Donald Strait, who has been a wonderful support for the last few months in helping to manage her care. In addition to her family, Judy leaves a number of friends whom she met throughout the stages of her life, many of whom were instrumental in supporting her with care and all of whom will carry forward lasting memories of fun and laughs.
