J.R. Thomas,'s Obituary
J R Thomas, MD, age 93, a retired cardiologist, Veterans Administration Medical Center and a professor of cardiovascular diseases, UTCHS, died on June 1, 2013. Prior to his medical career, he served in the US Navy 1942 to 1945 achieving rank of Lt. (jg). He was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, and member emeritus of the Memphis Cardiovascular Society. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wrenne Thomas, and wife, Pauline McCarley Pinson Thomas. He is survived by a son, James L. Thomas and his wife Karen, and three granddaughters, Lauren, Jennifer, and Katie Rose, of Yorba Linda, California. Funeral services at Memorial Park will be private.
