J.R. Anderson's Obituary
J. R. Anderson, born October 20, 1935, died suddenly September 29, 2015. A Kansas native, he co-oped his way through Georgia Tech & received a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Industrial Management. The Anderson family moved to Germantown in 1969 where they still reside in the same house today. In the 90’s J.R. formed his own company, Anderson Engineering. He was an active member of ASHRAE, USGBC and a certified Professional Engineer – LEED certified in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. As a long time member of The Church of the Holy Spirit, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was deeply involved in Cursillo and was a founding member of Birthright of Memphis. J. R. Is survived by his wife of over 50 years Hazel Anderson; oldest son Mark Anderson(Stephanie); daughter Susan Anderson; daughter Sharon Donovan (Tim); youngest son Keith Anderson (Amy); Grandchildren Connor and Hallie Anderson; Timothy, Katherine and Luke Donovan; William, Ben, Michael and Liza Anderson; and 2 brothers Bob and Fred Anderson. Visitation will be Friday October 2nd from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00, both at Church of The Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Drive, Memphis, TN 38119. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Birthright of Memphis, Haiti Medical Missions of Memphis or a charity of your choice.
