Joy Ann Holt's Obituary
Joy Ann Holt (Banes), 89, of Collierville, TN passed away peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House on April 1, 2025.
Joy was born to Selmer W. Banes and Beatrice Lamb Banes on January 2, 1936 in Mooreville, MS. She was the eldest of five children which included Ralph, Wayne, Buddy, and Doris. She attended Mooreville High School where she played basketball and met the father of her two children.
Before Joy’s life-long career at Memorial Park, she was a dental assistant for Dr. Greenfield in Memphis. Joy’s passion for helping families drove her over 40-year career at Memorial Park as a Family Services Advisor. During those years, she was a guiding hand for hundreds of families in the Mid-South area. Joy was an active member of the Red Hat Society for many years. In her earlier years, she enjoyed making clothing for her children and grandchildren. Crocheting, embroidering, gardening, shopping, and most importantly, spending time with her family, were her favorite hobbies. Joy loved watching birds, especially cardinals and hummingbirds.
Joy is survived by her two children, Pamala Holliday (Gary) and Robert “Mike” Parham, her grandchildren Courtney “Nicki” Woodruff (Todd), Amanda Beck (Alex), Dawn Michelle Hazlewood (Eddie) and her great grandchildren: Emily, Hunter, Holli, Trinity and Harper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son-in-law, Gary.
Joy will be remembered by her family and friends for her laughter, beautiful smile, tight hugs with big pats on the back, her sense of style, and finally the love and warmth she always gave to her friends and family, especially in times of need. She truly was her namesake, as she was always a joy to be around.
Her services will be held on April 9, 2025 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. Pastor Dennis Neenan will preside over her services with the viewing beginning at 1:30pm, funeral at 2:30pm and finally her entombment at 3:30pm.
