IVA JOYCE “Joy” DIXON. September 1, 1928 – March 2, 2010. With much sorrow we announce the passing of Joy at Kirby Pines Manor. Joy was the devoted daughter of the late Ellie Hugh and Dovie Klue (Garrison) Coltharp of Memphis. Beloved wife of the late Forrest Edgar Dixon, and dear mother of Thomas Dixon and his wife, Anne, Edward Dixon and his wife, Sherie, Ronald Dixon and his wife, Mary Kay, and Daniel Dixon and his wife, Karen. She was the loving grandmother of Brian Dixon and his wife, Shannon, Kevin Dixon and his wife, Amy, Jeff Dixon and his wife, Dana, Greg Dixon and his wife, Catherine, Jeremy Dixon, Lindsey Earley and her husband, Brad, Benjamin Dixon, and Victoria Dixon. She was also the blessed great-grandmother of Mary-Margaret, Jon-Thomas, Max, Lily, Caroline, Garrison, Forrest, and Anderson. Survived by sister, Nancy Tatum and her husband, Wylie of Harrison, AR. Joy was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and was a stay at home Mom for her four boys. She took great pride in providing a nourishing and pleasant Christian home for her family. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, partaking of many open road adventures all over the United States. Throughout her life, she served and worshipped God at Prescott Memorial Baptist Church, Whitehaven Baptist Church, Glen Park Baptist Church, and Balmoral Baptist Church. She lived a life of loving servitude to God, family and friends, and will forever be lovingly remembered for her joyful spirit, generosity, and sense of humor. A visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Park. Funeral services will be Friday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at Balmoral Baptist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
