Josephine Dunaway Miller's Obituary
Josephine Dunaway Miller went to her heavenly home on Friday, August 1, 2014. She was born April 2, 1921 to Rev. C.E. and Mae Roberts Dunaway of Lawrence County, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Grayson Miller. She shared his ministry in churches in Mississippi, Texas and Tennessee until his death in 1972. She attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and University of Memphis. Always blessed with a willingness to serve, she taught Bible classes for over 60 years and was always involved in mission activities. She was president of book and garden clubs and president of Shelby County Baptist Ministers’ Wives Fellowship and the Tennessee Baptist Ministers Wives Fellowship. She also taught English as a second language and enjoyed painting and gardening. She was a devoted person and her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her daughter Jean Miller Norton (John), and son Dr. John D. Miller (Debbie), and her four beloved grandchildren, Dr. Catherine Norton Marti (Jon), Caroline Norton Baker (Dan), Virginia Miller Colton (John) and Grayson Patrick Miller, and her great grandchild, Mary Reid Marti. She is also survived by her sister Iva Allen (David) and several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, August 10, at the First Baptist Church of Roswell, 710 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, Georgia, with Dr. Ron Bradley officiating. A second memorial service will be held at 1:30, Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee, with Rev. Jim Witherington officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the organization of your choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, ” Behind the Stone Wall”.
