Josephine Jernigan's Obituary
Josephine Miller Jernigan, an extraordinarily gifted woman of many talents, known for her wit, intelligence, and charm, died Sunday, March 18, having lived and loved for 97 years. John Milton Jernigan, her husband of 58 years, predeceased her in August 1999. Josephine is survived by two dearly loved daughters and sons-in-law; Mary Jo Jernigan Miller and her husband Thomas Roger Miller of Memphis; Kay Jernigan Helton and her husband Kenneth Richard Helton of Streetman Texas; three wonderful grandchildren: Kenneth Richard Helton, Jr. and wife Robyn Helton; John Jernigan Helton and Elizabeth Helton; Amanda Helton Jakes and Derek Jakes; and ten great- grandchildren: Jake, Luke, Zack, Daniel, and Nat Helton; Julia, Madeline, and Jack Helton; Christopher and Samuel Jakes. Josephine is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 23, at the Memorial Park Fireside Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with visitation at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Saturday at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge, Alabama. Memorials may be made to Crossroads Hospice, First Unitarian Church of Memphis, and New Hope Baptist Church in Streetman, Texas.
