God Bless Mr. Davis, and you, his family. I met him in May 1973. He hired me at Union Planters. I will always remember his kindness and sweet manner. He had such a beautiful smile and sweet heart. I used to see him quite often at lunch several years ago in Bartlett. I had not seen in in many years but told him who I was and he remembered me. I was so touched. I would see him having lunch and sat with him one day and we reminisced about the old UP days. He was a dear man. I am one of the “old crew” and we all loved him so much. I was one of many people at the old UP bank to work with Mr. Davis. He was funny and extremely fair. You could always count on him to come up with a plan that would work when everything else seemed to fail. There are several of the UP Girls (about 6 or 7 of the “old” crew that meet for lunch ever so often) and someone always mentions Mr. Davis. One of the girls saw him out one day and told him that he was being talked about and that seemed to make him happy. I get a Christmas card from him every year without fail. I know you will miss him and I know I will definitely think of him at Christmas when I get the first Christmas card of the season. God Bless you all. Rita Barrar Schelly

Jerry, Chuck and families,Our deepest sympathy to you. We loved your Dad and will miss him so much! He was one-in-a-million. Truly one of the finest individuals we have ever known or will. There are so many stories to tell about Joe, but his famous refrigerator on Ruskin probably tops the list. Those were truly good times! He brought a bottle of Jack Daniel’s to the hospital the night Lauri was born (paid retail – and told me about for 30 years). We will be opening that bottle at her wedding this year in Oct. and will toast Joe.We will be sending a donation in his name to St. Jude.Our thoughts and prayers are with you.Helaine and Mike MacPhail
