Rev. Joseph Bowen Johnson's Obituary
Rev. Joseph Bowen Johnson, 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his Lexington, TN home. He was on December 4, 1935, the son of Joseph Johnson and Beulah Taylor Johnson Crockett.Joseph started his career serving the Memphis community as a Memphis Police Officer. Later he became a Supervisor at Firestone Tire & Rubber. For most of his career, Joseph was an United Methodist minister serving numerous churches in Tennessee and Kentucky. He was a member of the United Methodist Church Memphis Annual Conference. He also served the local community as a County Commissioner of Tipton Co.Joseph was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Bowen.Joseph is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane Heckle Johnson and their two sons, Rev. Ron Johnson and his wife Karen and Bob Johnson and his wife Tina. He also leaves four grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Caitlin Johnson, Bo Johnson, and Brandi Johnson Calatayud, two great-grandchildren, Isabella Calatayud and Brayden Johnson and step-sister Nell Moore.The family will be receiving friends on Friday, September 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
