Joseph Holder's Obituary
Joseph Holder, 90, of Cumming formerly os Memphis, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Mr. Holder worked for Lanyne and Bowler for 45 years in Memphis and was an Army Veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant in World War II, in the European and Philippines Theaters. His decorations included the World War II Victory RIbbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, and one Bronze Service Star. He was a loving father and wonderful grandfather who loved Jesus, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame (Baseball). He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ella Holder; four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife Mary Elizabeth Holder of Cumming; children Terry Holder of Ellendale, TN, Michelle and Richard Sissom of Cumming, GA; Mike and Charlotte Boren of Ball Ground, GA; grandchildren Joey Holder of Franklin, TN, Wendye Hendley of Hoschton, GA, Scott Boren of Hernando, MS, and Chris Morgan of Ball Ground, GA; 8 great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, September11th at 2:30 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN with Rev. Richie Sissom officiating. THe family will be receiving friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, September 11th from 12:30 pm until service time. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
