Joseph Murray Gohn's Obituary
The Reverend Joseph Murray Gohn, 70, passed away November 11, 2014. He was born July 25, 1944 in Memphis, TN to Naomi Geraldine and Henry Gohn. He was currently the Priest-in-Charge at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Millington, TN. He served a number of local parishes throughout his 43 years of ordained ministry and also was concurrently a retail executive with Catherines Stores Corporation. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees Memphis State University. He did graduate work at the University of the South and obtained his Doctoral degree from Northwestern University. He attended seminary at Seabury Western Theological Seminary. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Clay Gohn. He loved the Lord and dedicated his life to the service of his parishioners. He made many lifelong friends. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. to be followed by Requiem Eucharist at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 15 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be sent to the Memphis Union Mission or a church or charity of the donor’s choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
