Joseph Brawner's Obituary
Joseph Andrew “Joe” Brawner, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2014. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe was preceded in death by his parents Ila Ethel and Andrew Lee Brawner; brothers, Robert Lee Brawner and William K. Brawner; and sister, Alpha Jo Brawner. He was a native Memphian and a 1953 graduate of South Side High School. He retired from the transportation industry after 45 years. He was a great handyman, carpenter, and gardener who did it all with perfection. He loved golf and scored a hole-in-one at Pine Hill on February 22, 1998. He was a member of White Station Church of Christ and the Joint Heirs Bible Study Class. He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart, love of his life, and wife of 58 years, Sandra Brawner; sons, Michael K. Brawner (Linda), of Columbia, SC, Charles R. Brawner, of Memphis, TN, and Marcus A. Brawner (Lorie) of Nashville, TN; and grandchildren, Michael, Drew, Kate, and Joey. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 18 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 19 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., all at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m., Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery.
