Jorgette Brooks' Obituary
Jorgette Smith Brooks, 59, passed away on August 19, 2016. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN and a long-time resident of Collierville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Gene Smith and Jo Ruth Smith; and her infant daughter Nicole Brooks. She is survived by her husband, Michael Barton Brooks; two sons, Jason Michael Brooks and Matthew Daniel Brooks; daughter-in-law, Rachael Guffey Brooks; two grandsons, Sullivan Rhys Brooks and Corbin Wesley Brooks; aunt, Phyllis George Meyer; cousin, Kim Schwiger Bennett; uncle, Ben Hodges, Sr.; and cousins, Barbara Marsh and Ben Hodges, Jr. Jorgette graduated from Overton High School in 1974, the University of Memphis with honors in 1981, and worked for many years at FedEx. She was very active in numerous women and children’s ministries at Cross-Way Church in Bartlett, TN. She was also deeply committed to the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and travel. Jorgette was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She selflessly gave of herself to others in a spirit of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar, Tuesday, August 23, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar, Wednesday, August 24, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial suggestions are Compassion International, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Cross-Way Church.
