Jonlane Fredrick "Fred" Rawlinson's Obituary
Jonlane Frederick (Fred) Rawlinson, age 86, of Collierville, TN, passed away on April 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on February 12, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, Fred was the son of Dorothy (“Dot”) and Jack Rawlinson. Throughout his life, he was known for his inquisitive mind, deep faith, quick wit, and his lifelong pursuit of beauty and knowledge through watercolor art.
Fred devoted many years to his work as a watercolor artist and educator, where he achieved international recognition and inspired hundreds of students through his teaching. He also served as Director of the Print Shop at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a role he took great pride in. Following his academic career, he and his wife Jo moved to New Orleans and opened an art gallery in the French Quarter. Outside of work, he found joy in meaningful conversations about theology, creating art, spending time with family, and observing the quiet beauty of the world around him. He will be remembered for his generosity and his expressive spirit.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jo; his children, Leigh, and Jon; and his grandchildren, Ava, Mark, Ivey, and Gibson. He is also survived by his siblings Mary and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Jack, his brother, Mickey, his sister, Patsy, and his son, Stuart.
The visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow, beginning at 2:00 PM in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Fred’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
