Jonelle Rae Spicer's Obituary
Jonelle entered heaven on June 25, 2018 after a lifelong battle with FSH Muscular Dystrophy. She lived life to the absolute fullest, earning degrees at Mid-South Community College and University of Memphis, both with honors. She was the organizer of SPICERFEST, her annual benefit to raise research funding for FSH Muscular Dystrophy. Jonelle was also very active in the Memphis community as the treasurer for the Coliseum Coalition, a group of citizens focused on re-purposing the Mid-South Coliseum. She also played tambourine in the Bluff City Barnacles and was beloved by the entire Memphis Music community and revered as a Memphis Queen. She was the, hands down, biggest supporter of the local music scene and her presence will be sorely missed. Jonelle never complained of her battle with FSHD and carried herself with such elegance and grace. She inspired and touched everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her and will go down in the Memphis history books as a rock-n-roll legend. Her beauty, wit, kindness, compassion, giving, thoughtfulness, caring, selflessness, and inspiration will forever be missed by all that knew her. Once in a lifetime does a shooting star like Jonelle pass through our world. All that knew her consider themselves lucky to have shined in her light. She is now dancing with the angels and her spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Her legacy will be honored and remembered as SPICERFEST will continue annually to raise research money for FSH Muscular Dystrophy to find a cure. Jonelle leaves behind her mother, Jolynn Otto, her sisters, Alicia Quinton and Shannon Spicer and extended family, her grandparents, Sidney and Jackie Green and Patsy Spicer and extended family, her uncle, Roman Green, her fiancee, Rudy Forster and extended family, and the countless friends she touched and inspired. May we never, ever forget our beautiful, sweet Jonelle! The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Growlers, 1911 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38104.
