Johnie Marvin Hobbs' Obituary
John Hobbs, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in Southaven, Mississippi. He was most recently a resident of Collierville, Tennessee. Born in Petersburg, Tennessee on July 22, 1938, John made the world brighter with his enduring love of God, family, and friends. He was known as a man of integrity and honor. He gave God all the glory for his many accomplishments during his service in the United States Air Force or during his work with the FAA. John was a man of faith who stood out for his immense amount of strength yet always humble way he showed that strength.
John spent his childhood in Hazel Green, Alabama. He served in the United States Air Force. Following his time at in the USAF, he was with the FAA in Memphis, TN. There, he worked as an air traffic controller where he received many honorable accolades.
John loved his wife, Doris, and family immensely. His other love was fishing! Some of the most special memories for all his family were the fishing trips to Sardis and Northfork Lake and trout fishing at Bull Shoals in Arkansas.
He always took time to go to watch his girls cheer and supported their many other events. He completely supported everything his family wanted to accomplish.
John is survived by his wife, Doris , his daughter Patti Allen , son in law, Mike Allen, his daughter, Tammy Hobbs from Boca Raton, FL his grandchildren, Emily Turner (Harold), Zach Allen (Lisa), John Allen (Jill), great grandchildren, Hailey Samples, Hayden Samples, Cruz Allen, Ivy Dell Allen and great great granddaughter, Lainey Grace Samples. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Hobbs, father, Walter Hobbs, his brothers, Roy, Billy,
George, James Loyd, his sister Jewel Tipton. Donations in honor of John can be made to Covenant Baptist Church, Collierville, TN, or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family invites friends to gather Monday July 22, 2024 at 1:00pm for visitation with a funeral service beginning at 2:00pm, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis Tn 38119.
