Johnathan Blac Hughes' Obituary
Jonathan Blac Hughes, age 22, went home to join our heavenly father on Friday, August 18th 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson Mississippi surrounded by family and friends. Blac was born July 6th 1995 and was one of eight siblings.Blac was an outstanding, energetic and charismatic child, who was sadly diagnosed with Diabetes at age 9, but he did not let that stop him from living his life to the fullest. He became actively involved in the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and that would lead him to Camp Hopewell where he would begin to play a part in the lives of countless people that were suffering with the same disease he was. Blac graduated from Southaven High School in 2013 and then attended Mississippi College before beginning his start of a career to be a healthcare specialist.Blac has left behind his parents: Delores and Jeff Church and Mike Hughes (father); eight siblings: Allyson Cook, Zach Church, Taylor Hughes, Naomi Cheyenne Stark, Dallas Church, Ben Hughes, and Jacob Hughes; grandparents: Doris McCullar, Lucy Hughes, and Debbie and Leonard Church; and his loving fiancé Miranda Goss.Services will be held August 24th 2017 at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church (4680 Get Well Rd., Southaven, MS). Visitation will be from 9 AM to 11 AM, immediately followed by the service. He will be laid to rest at McCurtains Creek in Weir in Mississippi. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations should be made to JDRF and Camp Hopewell to help end juvenile diabetes.
