John, I just found you after all these years only to find you’ve passed away. I wander if you have thought of me as I have you, always with a loving heart, and often as the years have slipped away. In case you need your memory jogged a bit, I’m the guy who you went to high school with, the one who talked you into that trip up the Alcan Highway into Alaska in ’72. We had quite an adventure. I wander if you kept any of those old photo’s. You were the official photographer on that trip, but ironically that’s the path I’ve taken in my ripe old age. I see you were still involved in Ekencar ( I know I spelled it wrong), as well as massage work. You turned me on to all that stuff way back in high school. I’m sure it brought you the life you wanted, to have stayed with it so long. One of the shots on the tribute to you showed what looked like an animal stall. Do you remember the trips to Brandon Plantation when I worked there? I’m sure you remember chasing cows all over that damn place. Well, Mom and Dad have passed away too, as well as my brother Bob. I remember when you lost your little brother way back in school. Speed bump driving an Austin Healy, if I remember right. Remember when you used to say you had “died and gone to Hopewell?” You loved my mothers cooking so much. Well, you rest easy for a bit, my old friend. My shelf life expired a long time ago, but apparently had some unfinished business to take care of, so got kicked back. Had one of those NDE’s while getting a triple bypass about 9 years ago, so I’m sure we’ll get a chance to catch up when I get to go home too. Love you much, and for many, many years, my friend.
