John Milton White's Obituary
John Milton White passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday , August 4, 2015. Milton set an outstanding example as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was born November 14, 1933 in Clarksdale, MS to Charles Ernest and Margaret Neel White. He graduated from Tunica High School and the University of Mississippi. In 1956 he married Joanne Bennett of Tunica, MS. He and Joanne, his loving wife of 59 years, raised four children who were the most important things in his life. Milton was a founding member of Independent Presbyterian Church. He would become successful in the commodity business, making many good friends and memories. He was a loyal Ole Miss fan and avid golfer. Milton will be remembered not only as a solid example of a husband and father, but also leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Bennett White; children, Suzanne Newman (West), Joanie Pittman (Wes), John Milton White Jr., and Leslie Sparkman (Jerry); and grandchildren, Christopher West Newman, Matthew Taylor Newman, Margaret Ashley Alexander (Brad), Mark Wesley Pittman, John Gerard Pittman, Tyler Neel Pittman, Jackson Cole Sparkman, and James Bennett Sparkman. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Neel White. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to Palmer Home for Children, Columbus, MS or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
