Mr. John Webb's Obituary
John Weber Webb was born to Mayes and Katherine Rhea Webb on February 4, 1937; he was the younger of their two sons. John grew up in Hickory Wythe, and he loved country living. A Southern gentleman through and through, John was a man of character. He was kind, loving, compassionate – and faithful. He was a CPA by vocation, and diligently served his clients, even when he was ill. John loved cooking, entertaining and traveling, and he loved nurturing the irises, lilies and hydrangeas in his garden. He was also a water color artist, whose works have been shown in the Dixon Gallery and Gardens and also in The Gallery at St. George’s Church. And, John had a beautiful bass voice, and loved to sing. John was a loving, loyal and devoted father to Jack, Carrie, and William, and grandfather to their children, Zachary, Rachel, Will, Emma, Drew, Mayse, Douglas, and Bailey. John rode up on horseback to marry his “precious Judith,” whom he had known since she was ten years old, on June 10, 1995; he became a loving stepfather to her daughters, Jane and Caroline, and grandfather to their children, Amanda, Ben, Bill and Sarah – and Sarah’s baby Eleanor. John died in Judith’s loving arms. The family will greet friends and visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, and funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 2425 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, Tennessee. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will follow at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church, the Lamplighters of Christ United Methodist Church, or the Salvation Army. Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
