John Riley Walls' Obituary
John Riley Walls, Sr., 89, passed away February 9, 2016 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. He served his country during WWII in the United States Air Force. In 1946, John continued his education at the University of Mississippi, where something was in the water that made him a true Ole Miss Rebel. A special thank you to Jeff and Debbie Todd for allowing him to “Grove” with them in The Grove. He had a special love for Jack and JoAnn Gilbert as they shared a special love for Ole Miss for many years. He opened his business in 1952 and was the owner of Walls Automotive and Raleigh Auto Parts. He loved his customers and they loved Mr. John! Mr. John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bettye; children, John Walls, Jr, of Denver, CO, Lisa Walls Fritzsche (Dr. Jim) of Memphis, and Keith Walls of Walls, MS; siblings, Viola Todd Nicholson, Sara York, Donald Walls, and Garland Walls (Maria); grandchildren, John R. Walls, III (Melanie), Laura Fritzsche, Melissa Livingston (Jeff), and Kannon Siebert; and great grandchildren, Rye and River Livingston. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until his service begins at 2 p.m. Friday, February 12 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. His casket will be draped with an American Flag that was flown over the United States Capitol for 15 minutes on August 27, 2001, in honor of John’s 75th birthday. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. John was a sweet sweet man who will be missed by so many. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Memphis Jewish Home and Baptist Reynolds Hospice House for the loving care and concern that was given to John and his family.
