John Vincent's Obituary
JOHN THOMAS “Jack” VINCENT, JR., 71, died at Methodist Hospice Residence on August 7, 2013, from complications of a stroke. He was a graduate of Memphis Catholic High School and earned a BS and MBA from Memphis State University. A health planner by profession, he worked for the Memphis Regional Medical Program, the Mid-South Medical Center Council, and the Shelby County Department of Health. He also volunteered for the Diabetes Association, the Kidney Foundation, and was treasurer of Ballet South. In 1981, Jack accompanied his wife, the former Dawn Butler Willis on a one year sabbatical of work, study and travel in Strasbourg, France. They moved to Atlanta, GA in 1988, where Jack became a health systems analyst for the Georgia Department of Community Health. He retired in 2004, and he and his wife spent several years traveling around the world, visiting Europe, China, India, Russia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries. Last year, they returned to Memphis to be closer to their families. In addition to his wife, Jack leaves his sister, Vickki Edwards; two sons, John Thomas “Jay” Vincent III and Steven R. Vincent; two stepchildren, three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. The body will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at Memphis Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10; visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The ashes will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
