John Keith Sterne's Obituary
John Keith Sterne of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on August, 26 2024 at the age of 69. He was born to John and Bobbie Sterne on July 6, 1955 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He received his bachelor’s degree from The University of South Alabama and was a Certified Public Accountant. He retired from his job as a Pricing Analyst at Cornerstone Systems in January 2023 and got to spend a year and a half doing whatever he wanted—which mostly included watching movies, hanging out with his cats, and buying random things from Amazon.
Keith was charismatic, loyal, and always quick with a joke. He was a proud father to two daughters: Alex Sterne of Columbia, South Carolina and Kiernan Sterne of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister, Stacey Rannik of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as extended family members and many friends. His two beloved cats, OT and Ally, have been adopted by his family.
In 2007, as part of a course he was teaching with a friend, Keith was tasked with writing his own obituary. While others involved in the course wrote about their peaceful deaths of old age, he detailed his own death by Great White shark attack. While luckily (or he might say disappointingly), his actual death was much less violent or dramatic, the other details he wrote ring true. He described his love for his daughters, the guitar, Ancient Rome, the ocean, cats, sci-fi, The Raiders, and, in a demonstration of his ever-present humor, himself.
Keith will be missed dearly by all who love him. “The road goes ever on and on” –The Hobbit
