John Thomas Ryczek's Obituary
John Thomas Ryczek, 87, of Germantown, TN died on January 5, 2021.
Mr. Ryczek was born September 12, 1933 in Seattle, WA to Thomas and Saraphine (Ozura) Ryczek.
He grew up in Seattle and joined the Marine Corps in 1953 as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1956. After the military, John joined AT&T as a telephone technician where he worked for 42 years in Germantown, TN.
John was a longtime resident of Germantown and was an active member of the Germantown Athletic Club. He loved working on model trains and was a diehard fan of the University of Tennessee football team. His strong Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. He was an active member of the Church of the Holy Spirit.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Peggy Ryczek (Chandler), step-children Pam Kendall (John) - Olive Branch, MS, Debbie York (William) - Houston, TX and Gene Ellis (Karin) – Bethesda, MD, step-grandsons Gregory York - Denver, CO and Nathaniel Ellis (Dot) – San Francisco, CA, step-great grandsons Flynn and Asher Ellis and niece Annette O’Neil.
John was proceeded in death by his parents, first wife Zell Ryczek, sisters Marian Jean Eisen and Margaret Mary Ryczek.
John lived a full life and shared kindness with everyone he met. He had a very good heart and he loved his family, pets and his trains. We are all better having known John.
Due to COVID, a memorial service will be schedule later in the year to celebrate the life of John T. Ryczek.
