John Bostick Rutherford's Obituary
John Bostick Rutherford “Brownie”, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was Born in Iuka, MS on September 7, 1934 to Mae Nunley and William Holland Rutherford. He is survived by three sons, Dr. Joe Rutherford (Jamey) of Memphis, TN. Vic Rutherford (Andrea) of Hernando, MS and Cliff McCain (Charlene) of Atlanta, GA. He leaves five grandchildren: Cole Rutherford, Emme Rutherford, Carson Rutherford, Aaron McCain and Ian McCain. He leaves one brother, Richard Rutherford of Memphis, TN and one sister, Diane Rutherford Bull of Jonesboro, AR. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Elizabeth Rutherford “Libby” and four brothers: Bill Rutherford, Carroll Rutherford, J.D. Rutherford and Rodney Rutherford. John graduated from Messick High School in 1953 and joined the Air Force for 5 years of service. John enjoyed a lengthy career as a maintainer corporate representative and continued working until the end. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until his service begins at 1 p.m. Friday, December 15 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Joe Rutherford Memorial Scholarship fund at Herff School of Engineering, University of Memphis Foundation, PO Box 1000, Department 238, Memphis, TN 38105.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
