John was my business partner and dear friend for nearly 40 years - an icon of wisdom in more ways than I can count. A trusted mentor, one could count on him to make well-considered business decisions, and deliver on his promises. He loved his family dearly, and never failed to remind all around him of the importance of family above all else. A true inspiration to all he met; stories of John's acumen in both domestic and international business will be told for years. He will be truly missed - our world is a lesser place without him!

As one of the fortunate ones who had the opportunity to work closely with John during the SABA years, I was always amazed at his knowledge, quick grasp of details and never ending search for opportunities. He had many friends, from many walks of life and he influenced all who knew him. He was never slowed down by issues with Parkinsons, and was not deterred him from working on multi-million dollar ventures. He was an inspiration to all who had the fortune of interacting with him.
Best wishes to the family as they deal with this sad time. John will be missed.

My heart aches for the loss of Mr. Osteen. He treated me like family from the first time I met him at SABA. I learned to love him and his family like my own. He fought a long hard battle, but he is in a better place. Walking the streets of Gold and dancing with Anna.

So sorry for your loss. I served as legal counsel for Saba and its affiliates and have many fond memories of working with John. His smooth deep voice is etched in my mind. He will be sorely missed.
