John McEntire's Obituary
John McEntire was called home to be with his Lord on August 16, 2013 at the age of 98, following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Vera Mae McEntire. They were married 37 years and enjoyed taking trips with friends. Left to cherish his memory are a step-son, Jim “Sonny” Webb and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Webb of Piperton, TN; three grandchildren, Tracy Bringle of Collierville, Eric Webb (Becky) of Germantown, Joel Webb of Piperton; his nine great grandchildren, Gabby Bringle, Aubrey-Lake Webb, Hayden Webb, Eric Webb, Madison Webb, Izzie Bringle, Michael Webb, Andrea Dover and Jared Dover. John was born October 25, 1914. He was a graduate of Tech High School and spent all of his adult life living in Memphis. He was a proud Army WWII veteran, where he served in France. John loved to attend his Central Church Sunday School classes taught by Rev. Phil Clements and Rev. Terry Burnside, traveling with Vera and the Central Senior Adults. He worked for Memphis Cotton Sales as a bookkeeper for over 40 years. His hobbies included fishing and all card games. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 18 and the funeral service 1 p.m. Monday, August 19 all at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
