John Paul Lee's Obituary
John Paul Lee, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2026. John was quite a character; almost too large for this world. John worked for many years at WREG TV and as a freelance sound engineer. His skills and stellar reputation in his field allowed him to travel the world to many amazing music and sporting events. However, his favorite was right at home -The Memphis Grizzles.
John loved wresting and fishing, especially deep-sea fishing. He had an eclectic taste in music, which he shared with his daughter, Tiffany. When she was a child, he would often put on a record, turn it up loud and teach her tidbits of music theory as they relaxed in his bedroom. John shared his love of frisbee golf and watching as many sporting events as possible with his grandson, Luke.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Bliss Lee; his father, Jack P. Lee; and the love of his life, Martha Lynn Sunda Lee.
He leaves behind his daughter, Tiffany; grandson, Luke Taylor Pruett; granddaughter, Martha Miller Williams; brother, Kevin Lee (Martha); one niece; and many nephews.
In his later years, John was losing his eyesight. The family humbly asks others to volunteer with the “Be My Eyes” app, which anonymously connects sighted volunteers with blind or low-vision individuals to assist with everyday tasks through real-time video support.
The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
A memorial service will be held in the first week of July.
The service time will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
