John Lawrence Knapp's Obituary
John L. Knapp, Jr., 73, longtime resident of Memphis, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2013. A graduate of St. Catherine High School in 1958, John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for six years. He was a successful business man, president of his company Mktgwrks, Inc., and worked for more than twenty years in the IT industry. His favorite pastime was watching college sports and he was passionate about cooking. Born in Detroit, Michigan, John was the eldest of two children born to John and Marie who precede him in death. John is survived by daughters Fran (Tony) Ferlazzo of California, Christine (Paul) Valles and son Jay (Heidi) Garrett of Arizona; his sister Marie (Al) Muller of Michigan, three nephews, eight grandchildren and three great nieces. Mass and memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4150 Boeingshire Dr., Memphis, with reception to follow. Burial with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at West Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis. All are welcome to both.
