John Joseph Heimbach's Obituary
John Heimbach was born in Cincinnati, OH in August, 1937. He was the oldest of 2 children born to Katherine & Joseph Heimbach. At the age of 18, and upon completion of high school, he volunteered for the Army. He served 2 years, based mostly at Ft. Campbell and Ft. Knox in Kentucky. He was proud of the fact that the country’s gold reserve was never at risk under his watch. He returned to Cincinnati, met and married the love of his life, Sharon McAnaw. They were married in September of 1961.John & Sharon soon started a family and welcomed 3 sons, Jim, Jeff, and Steve. They moved to Memphis in August of 1967 while working for Whiteway Manufacturing selling lights and fixtures to the petroleum industry. After many years with Whiteway, John spent the rest of his career as an independent manufacturer’s representative in various industries. John was heavily involved in the boys’ lives, coaching various sports and helping with their extracurricular activities. After retirement, John enjoyed working summers for the Memphis Redbirds ushering guests and fans.He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Sharon, and sons Jim (Regina), Jeff (Marianna) of Memphis, and Steve (Leslie) of Des Moines, IA. Also remembering their Poppa are his grandchildren Kati (Ben) Campbell, Michael Long, Jack Heimbach, Grace Heimbach, Claire Heimbach, Jeffrey Heimbach and Mary Winston Heimbach as well 3 great grandchildren.John is also survived by his sister, Kathy (Tim) Carroll of Cincinnati, his sister-in-law Monica (Tom) Rehring of Maryland, and 6 nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorials to Christian Brothers High School, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.John will be fondly remembered for his quick sense of humor and his eagerness to talk to complete strangers.Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 11AM at St. Louis Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow at noon.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. “A Fitting Place For Everyone”……
