Rosemary, Kathy & Karen, my sincere condolences to you & the rest of the family. I have fond memories of our Navy days. John was the first one to know we were going to become the parents of an adopted child because he answered the phone & I needed him to find Art. The 2 of them can now talk Nav stuff. May he rest in peace.

Dear Rosemary, family and friends of John,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at John´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS John C Calhoun SSBN-630.
To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.
Rosemary and family... "may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).

National Chaplain, USSVI.

Living in Kittery, Maine, submarine in Shipyard, John would walk to our house to meet with Steve and go on into work. He was always a ray of sunshine first thing in the morning, get a refill for his coffee. We could see the Calhoun from our kitchen window.
Played cards most Friday nights with the kids in the other room watching TV. Great memories.
