John Franklin Boyd's Obituary
John Franklin Boyd, of Memphis, passed away December 11, 2014 after a brief illness. John was born in Dyer, Tennessee to James Robert and Myrtle Elurah Boyd. He is preceded by his parents, Robert and Myrtle; four sisters, Geraldine, Mary, Sarah and Roberta; and two brothers, James and Thomas. After serving in Europe during World War II, he settled in Memphis and began a career with General Electric. A skilled wood worker, he later formed Boyd Wood Works, Inc, renowned for fine architectural millwork. As a Memphis business owner, he gave many local craftsmen a start in this field and was known for high quality and attention to detail. He was known for his integrity, keen wit and sense of humor. He was active in his church and did volunteer work for the Boy Scouts. John leaves behind his wife Anita; four sons, Robin, Chip, Jimbo and Jackson; a daughter Beth, and four grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be 11a.m.-1p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 with services to follow at 1p.m. Memorial Park Funeral Home.
