John Floyd Franklin's Obituary
John Floyd Franklin went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 23, 2022. He died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his daughters.
John was born in Gorham, Illinois on August 18, 1936. He ultimately moved to Memphis, where he graduated from Southside High School and the University of Memphis. He married his lovely wife, Martha, in 1959 and together they raised 3 daughters. John had a career with Chrysler before he retired to spend more time with his wife and fishing at his cabin. John is preceded in death by Martha, whom he never wanted to live a moment without.
John Franklin was a family man—best remembered as “Dad” and “Grandad.” He was so proud of the happy life he and his wife created and will be so dearly missed.
John is survived by: his brother, Jerry Franklin; his three daughters Melanie Price, Melinda Watson (Mike) and Michele Grefrath (Greg); his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A service will be held in his memory on Saturday, March 26th at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis; visitation will begin at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to Memphis Union Mission.
