John Robert Dunlap, Jr., 60, passed away November 5, 2019.John Robert Dunlap, Jr. (Jay), age 60, passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 5, 2019. Jay grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, attended Sea Isle Elementary School, Memphis University School, Wake Forest University, and University of Tennessee School of Law. After graduating from college, Jay worked in California for approximately 1 ½ years and was involved in the election campaign of Ronald Reagan. Upon graduating from University of Tennessee School of Law, which Jay and his brother David attended together, Jay and his brother were sworn in before the Tennessee Supreme Court together. Jay pursued a career in real estate development, leasing, and management in the Knoxville area. Jay was charismatic, devoted to family, and strived to positively impact those around him. Jay is survived by his two children, John Robert Dunlap III, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Kathryn Forrest Dunlap of Lexington, Kentucky; his parents, John and Marcia Dunlap; his two brothers, David Murray Dunlap (wife Mona) and Andrew Scarborough Dunlap; three nieces, Mattie Helen Dunlap, Leah Mae Dunlap, and Mary Elizabeth Dunlap; and his dear friend Cindee Peters. Jay is predeceased by his brother Jeffrey Green Dunlap. Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Second Presbyterian Church located at 4055 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Second Presbyterian Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930. “A Fitting Farewell For Everyone”
