John was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He was a good friend to my father and uncle and spoke of them often to me. John and Martha were two of the best friends we had at FBC. My sympathy and prayers go to all his family, especially Mark.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. The world in which we live is filled with sickness and death. At a time such as this prayer along with thoughts from the scriptures can provide a measure of comfort. As an example, Revelation 21:3,4 states that soon God will wipe out all tears including those caused by sickness and death. In addition, John 5:28,29 assures us that there will be aresurection to life for our loved ones. I hope these few thoughts provide a measure of comfort for you at this time.
