Dr. John Baxter was my mentor; He hired me to support a complex Image Analysis development for the Department of Neurology. I remember our discussion varied in subjects as he continually sipped his tea from his famously stained tea cup. The last I called ((beginning of 2012) Polly and spoke to him over the Phone ;he seemed to recognize my voice. I am always grateful for his friendship.Bless John and his family.Sivaram
Polly, Mary, Laura, Johnny & Robert: I wanted to take a moment to tell you how lucky I am to have worked w/ Dr. Baxter at UTHSC… He was a very kind man, yet firm when needed, & he needed firm often in my early career at UTHSC… I learned many things from Dr. Baxter, as we worked together on IT infrastructure, but I also found patience to be one of his stronger points, & kindness being another… I’ll forever miss the peanut brittle every Christmas, just as we missed it this past Christmas… And I’ll miss the occasional fishing stories we both loved to share… But most often when conversation left UTHSC, he talked of his family… I’ll never forget the stick-figure family drawing on the whiteboard in his office, the kids drew it & he never erased it… I often consider myself lucky to have known various people, & this is one of those cases of being very lucky to have known & worked w/ Dr John Baxter… My condolences to your family, my prayers are w/ you all…God Bless…Billy Hatcher
Dr. Baxter was my boss from 1997 to 2001. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a kind boss and a wonderful man. Every year he would bring in his peanut brittle at Christmas. May God lift you up during this time and may you find peace in knowing he is home.Diane Weber
