John Thomas Bailey's Obituary
John Thomas Bailey, 61 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2022 at 3:27am after complications from open heart surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Even though his failing heart took him away from this Earth, his fun-loving personality left an everlasting, unselfish influence to all who knew him. John is survived by his precious wife of 11 years, Dina V. (Elias) Bailey. He was a proud, dedicated Father who always demonstrated unconditional love to one daughter and two sons: Kimberly Jean Shackleford (William) of North Carrollton, MS, John Thomas Bailey, II, (Cheslea) of Hernando, MS, and Patrick Ian Bailey (Katie) of Oakland, TN. His 4 grandchildren filled a space in his heart that he never knew existed, but knew he couldn’t live without. John was preceded in death by his Father, Cleve Hendrix Bailey, Jr., of Holcomb, MS, and is survived by his Mother, Mary Frances Bailey of Holcomb, MS, as well as by his 4 siblings: Irby Cleve Bailey, II (Lennie) of Grenada, MS, Terri Lee Bailey of Holcomb, MS, Cleve Hendrix Bailey, III, of Holcomb, and Marla Smitherman (Victor) of Holcomb, MS. John was a dedicated worker in the automotive industry as a parts manager for over 25 years. He was the type of caring husband, hardworking Father and generous GrandFather that never missed a ball game, a birthday or holiday with his family. John’s contagious happiness also presented with every Ole Miss Rebel football or baseball game while relaxing at home with his favorite fur-baby dogs: the late Snoop, Bella and Dixie. His unique, stubborn personality and ability to pinch a penny while telling you “to let him worry about it“ was truly amusing to us all. The unbreakable bond he shared with each of one of us and others, will be honored and cherished forever. Arrangements to honor John’s life will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN: Visitation services are from 5-7pm on Thursday, October 27th and funeral services from 11am-12pm on Friday, October 28th with burial to follow in the Garden of Reflections at Memorial Park Cemetery.
