Joe Wilkinson's Obituary
Joe C Wilkinson Sr, 75 , retired city of Memphis Firefighter passed away on January 28, 2011 after a short illness. He was born on June 26, 1935 in Eads, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years Shirley John Wilkinson, his wife of 20 years Mary Akins Wilkinson, and a brother Mark Wilkinson of Akin, CA. He leaves his wife Marilyn Wilkinson, three sons Joe Clayton Wilkinson Jr, of Olive Branch, MS, Jonathan S (Gayla) Wilkinson of Collierville, TN, Mike (Cathy) Bass of Jamestown, KY, one daughter Melissa (John) Moore of Collierville, two grandchildren Cody and Taylor Wilkinson, his mother Mary Wilkinson, two brother James W of Aberdeen, MS, Don W of Mission Valley, TN, four sisters Flora Turner of Holly Springs, MS, Aileen Miller of Collierville, TN, Nora Flood of Jackson, CA, and Sandy Fine of Yuma, AZ, and a host of nieces and nephews. Joe was an entrepreneur and had several businesses, most notably Smokin Joe’s Bar &Grill in Collierville. He was blessed with many friends and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. In his own words when retiring from the fire department “Youre Gonna Miss me when Im Gone” and we certainly will.
