Joe Harris' Obituary
Joseph Presley Harris, 61, passed away on August 26, 2016, in Germantown, Tennessee. He was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on July 9, 1955, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Benjamin Harris, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Gunn Harris, his parents, and his sister, Jan Harris Robinson. He is survived by two sons, Jeff Harris (Tricia) of Germantown, and Luke Harris (Heather) of Jackson, Mississippi; one daughter, Suzanne Harris Tuck (Greyson) of Memphis; and six grandchildren, Henry Tuck, Simmons Tuck, Joseph Harris, Thomas Harris, Talmadge Harris, and Eliza Tuck. Joe was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and played on the Ole Miss Rebel football team. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan, in 1977. He was a founding member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Olive Branch, and was a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family. He especially loved being a grandfather. Joe’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. William Stewart and his nurse, Lisa Bay, for going above and beyond to provide excellent care and support. Visitation will be at Germantown Presbyterian Church on Monday at 11 am, with the funeral services immediately following at 1 pm. The family requeats that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Germantown Presbyterian Church or West Cancer Center Foundation.
