She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald J. Tomaiuolo (Shirley).
JoAnne's journey through life was characterized by love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit. She married her soulmate, William E. Gardner Jr., on July 14, 1979, marking a beautiful partnership that lasted 46 years. Together they created a loving home filled with warmth and joy, where their son, Aaron Gardner (Katie), grew up surrounded by his parents' unwavering love.
As a proud grandmother, JoAnne took immense joy in doting on and spoiling her grandchildren, Stella and Sam, showering them with gifts and clothing, and creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. She had a heart of gold, always looking for opportunities to help others, and her giving spirit extended to many charitable causes, with a special fondness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
JoAnne was known for her vibrant personality that could light up any room. Her charisma and charm drew people to her, and her love for life was evident in everything she did. She had a passion for dance and often enjoyed listening to live music, sharing her zest for life with those around her. Her love for travel took her to many beautiful places, with Cabo being her favorite getaway, where she found rest and relaxation by the ocean. JoAnne’s love for animals was also a notable part of her life; she had many Golden Retrievers over the years, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Her nurturing nature and kindness extended not only to her family but also to her friends and community.
JoAnne is survived by her devoted husband, William Gardner Jr.; her son Aaron Gardner (Katie); her beloved grandchildren, Stella and Sam; and her cherished nephews, Luke, Jacob, and Vincent.
As we remember JoAnne, we reflect on her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. Her family invites those who wish to honor her memory to make donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, two causes that were close to her heart.
