Joanne told me the secret to an active and happy old age was “not to slow down, but to speed up!” She was always upbeat and never complained.
I would like to convey to Joanne’s family how loved and respected she was by the Woman’s Exchange family of volunteers and employees. Joanne worked with hundreds of women over the years, role modeling for the newer ones and supporting everyone daily. For years she arrived early to get a head start on the day’s work, and often worked double shifts to help out volunteers in need. Personally, she came to my rescue many times, to work in my place. Joanne brought a sense of peace and calm to our little community and was always kind; she will be missed by all. Joanne was our gem. Kathy Smith
I worked with Joanne at the Woman’s Exchange and shall miss her. Unfortunately, I cannot be with you on the 13th as I shall be driving to Indiana. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Margaret Taylor
I worked with Joanne at the Woman’s Exchange for years and loved her dearly. Hard worked and so gracious. She was also one of my buncombe buddies. I wish I were there today but she will be in my thoughts and prayers Elaine S Edwards
