Joan Winter Schaefer's Obituary
Joan Winter Schaefer, born March 22,1935 went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Memphis, TN to John Frank Winter and Virginia Edmundson Winter. After attending Central High School, she graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental Hygiene School. She was an active member of Christ Covenant Reformed Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Jean Winter Robinson, and her son Paul Osborne Schaefer. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Dudley Pledger Schaefer Sr., three of her children Dudley Jr (Lynn), Scott (Susan), and David (Kristen), and her lifetime friend she considered a sister, Joyce Johnson. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael Schaefer (Rachael), Caroline Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer (Rheagan), Thomas Schaefer (Kaitlin), Carrie Schaefer Adkins (Hudson), Virginia Schaefer Robbins (Jake), Ashleigh Schaefer Parker (Tyler), Molly Schaefer, Heather Schaefer, and Katie Schaefer, and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 at River Oaks Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Joan’s memory be made to Christ Covenant Reformed Church or Wounded Warriors’ Project.
